As part of the Solid Pathways program in April 2014, high achieving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander primary school students visited the St Lucia campus to experience various disciplines offered at UQ.
Tim O'Rourke, Kelly Greenop and Michael Dickson explained and demonstrated to the students, their teachers and parents, the building of a mija- a traditional Aboriginal shelter. Students were invited to help with the construction of the mija, using bamboo and palm leaves to re-create the traditional dome shelter.
