Kelly's focus area is the people-environment relations of Australian Indigenous people in Brisbane and South East Queensland. She teaches in architectural research, people-environment relations and design.
Her teaching interests include student reflection, eLearning and internationalisation. She is completing a cross-disciplinary PhD involving both architectural and anthropological frameworks to examine the places and meanings of place in the Indigenous community of Inala, Brisbane. Kelly has published in architectural, Indigenous studies and people-environment disciplines, and has also undertaken consultant anthropologist work in South East Queensland. She is the current national secretary of the Australian Network of Student Anthropologists. Her other interests include sustainable communities, permaculture and childrens' use of place.
